Having obtained a BEng in Electrical Engineering with Electronics from Brunel University, sponsored by British Aerospace Naval Weapons Division, Ian Long went on to develop and model tracking algorithms for air launched weapons.
This led to Ian’s long term interest in mass data analysis and particularly how to utilise that data to improve company’s growth and profitability.
Over the next twenty years Ian was at the forefront of delivering business intelligence solutions, with a specific interest in data analysis and development.
He has worked and consulted for many Blue Chip organisations such as KPMG, Roche, Glaxo SmithKline, Pfizer and Sony Playstation to implement and deliver scalable statistical software applications. These detailed applications not only drive their existing and future ‘business to customer’ models, they increase profitability through the best use of existing and future information.
Ian has been responsible for building two successful Development and Statistical Consultancy businesses, where his principle responsibilities were Software Development and delivery. He recently consulted as Chief Technical Officer for Statistical Research Lab in London, creating the software and infrastructure that delivers investment control and asset management systems to both investors and money managers across the city.
The experience and knowledge that Ian has in working with mass information dissemination and integration, has allowed him to help maximise the use of large datasets for organisations both nationally and internationally.
As an accomplished trainer in the application and implementation of large scale data analysis, Ian has delivered training for a wide variety of companies around the world, including Glaxo-SmithKline, Pfizer, Roche, KPMG, Orange and the Institute of Direct Marketing.
As the Managing Director of Stoat Software, Ian is very pleased to be able to offer all this experience and knowledge in one place.
